  Véritable balcon sur la Garonne, La Réole a su préserver un patrimoine d’une exceptionnelle richesse. Depuis 1000 ans, la ville se développe autour du prieuré des Bénédictins, traçant autour de ce promontoire trois enceintes successives.   Fundada por los griegos en una zona volcánica, allí donde se juntan las aguas dulces del Canal du Midi y del río Herault con las aguas saladas del Mediterráneo, Agde es hija del agua. Ha sido sucesivamente : puerto heleno, ciudadela medieval y prospera villa en el Renacimiento. Agde fue uno de los puertos mercantes más activos de todo el Mediterráneo hasta el siglo XVIII.
